A Report on the Church Renovations Campaign

Monday, November 26th, 2007

In my letter to the Parish “Just to say ‘Thank-you’”, I promised to publish a report on the Appeal and to keep you informed of developments. You can see for yourselves that good progress is being made on the building and I hope that you will be equally encouraged by this financial report.
Your generous response to the Diocesan Campaign along with careful management by the Parish Finance Committee of the routine parish running costs enabled us to clear all of our outstanding debt to the Diocesan Solidarity Fund. This allowed us to undertake the renovations with a clear slate and a projected annual surplus of £100,000.
In addition to this, your response to the Church Renovations Campaign has been equally magnificent. So far we have received a total of £67,300 in one-off donations; monthly/quarterly contributions made by Standing Orders or Promissory Pledges will amount to £32,000 annually. Signed Gift Aid Declarations will allow the parish to claim back a further £26,000 from the Inland Revenue. Also, some parishioners have decided to increase their weekly and monthly envelope contributions. It is difficult at this early stage to estimate the return on this but over the period of a year should increase envelope giving by £5,000. This represents an annual return on the Appeal of approximately £130,000.

The overall cost still is still about £1m. To date we have borrowed £350,000 from the Solidarity Fund to make contractual payments. However I am pleased to tell you that we have already managed to repay £148,500. Our intention is to make regular payments to the Solidarity Fund to reduce the overall level of borrowing and the related interest charges.
I thank the Parish Finance Committee for their expert advice and each one of you for your very generous support.

Just to say – ‘Thank-you’

Monday, November 19th, 2007

In September last I wrote to everyone in the Parish seeking support for our Fund Raising Campaign for St Anne’s Church. The response of the parishioners has been most generous and of great assistance in enabling us in meeting the challenge of renewing the Church.

Those who have contacted me directly by letter, or forwarding a cheque or S.O. pledged, I have thanked personally by letter. (However, I confess I was unable to make out a few of the signatures – I hope they will forgive me!)

Many other parishioners have responded to the Appeal by increasing their giving through the Parish envelope. To each one I say a very sincere “Thank-you” for your generosity and kindness.

I shall publish in next week’s Bulletin a report concerning the Appeal Campaign. If you haven’t got round to making a response and intend to do so, there is still time!

The work on the Church is progressing well, is on time, and will be completed at the end of February. It promises to be a very fine job and the Parish will then have the beautiful Church it deserves.

With renewed thanks and every good wish,

Yours sincerely,

Fr Edward O’Donnell
Parish Priest

UPDATE: I have stuck this post back at the top to draw some attention to the cause.

St Anne’s Fund Raising Campaign

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Everyone in the Parish has received a package regarding the Fund Raising Campaign for St Anne’s Church. Initial indications are that Parishioners are making a very generous response. For this I am very grateful, particularly as I am aware of the many demands made to-day on people’s resources. It will be a little while before we know exactly where we stand, but in due course I will give a report to the Parish regarding the Appeal and the general financial situation.
Meanwhile, those Parishioners intending to make a response, it would be great if they could do so soon.
If by chance you did not receive the Fund Raising package and wish to be included, one can be picked up from the Sacristy or parish office,
Finally, a very sincere Thank-you for all the wonderful support.
