Pastoral Council

Background

The current Parish Pastoral Council in St Anne’s Parish was elected in Spring 2008. This is the second Parish Pastoral Council to have been formed within the parish in recent years, following the completion of the initial 3 three year term of our first Parish Pastoral Council.

The Parish Pastoral Council aims to further the Vision for St Anne’s Parish, through prayer, reflection and working with the priests, religious and laity within the parish. Our work is governed by the Statutes of St Anne’s Parish Pastoral Council, which were first published in 2005. These statues provide a basis for how St Anne’s Parish Pastoral Council should function, and clearly set out the Council’s role to:

  • Promote and co-ordinate the various parish initiatives of evangelisation and pastoral action
  • Liaise with and support the various groups and committees in the parish
  • Communicate with parishioners on a regular basis.

Prayer and reflection is at the heart of the Parish Pastoral Council’s mission. This encourages a collaborative and consultative approach between the priests of the parish and the Council, with the Council acting as the primary means of consultation between parishioners and the priests of the parish. The Parish Pastoral Council holds a Parish Assembly in Lent every year, which is open to all members of the parish.
In total St Anne’s Parish Pastoral Council comprises 16 members, as shown on the Parish Pastoral Council poster, who will serve for a term of three years.
